So, if you or a service like Sane Box copies a large number of older emails into your Inbox right now, you may only see those and brand new emails that arrived after the copy. You can verify that by viewing your Inbox in your web mail interface.
Thus, your Inbox will appear to have a set of missing emails. The problem is that IOS Apple Mail hasn't "fetched" those gap emails yet and therefore is not showing them in your other email clients on the face of the planet (including Apple OSX Mail) fetch from your mail server by latest arrivals first instead of most recently copied or moved.

I was addressing an interesting issue for a customer today where a user with a shared mailbox would not automatically update.
Their primary mailbox updated correctly, only the shared mailbox did not update.
This will leave all email on the server for a few weeks, until the problem is fixed.
To do this, go to File, Account Settings, double click on the POP account then click More Settings.
This shared mailbox having the issue was indeed over 2GB in size.
There are numerous forum threads on the Internet with people experiencing this Outlook issue: This issue only occurs when shared mailboxes are being cached locally.
POP3 mail left on the server keeps downloading, over and over.
The usual fix when this happens is to not leave mail in the Inbox on the server, however, this won’t help someone who wants to leave mail on the server.
After your Sane Box account is canceled those Sane folders are yours to do with as you wish.
